Evaluation Criteria for Group Projects

There are two scheduled group presentations. Students, in groups of six or less, will develop a display on pertinent topics for display and evaluation. Those presentations should be stand-alone and self-explanatory. Remember, these are displays, and should market your ideas, as each display will be evaluated by class members. The average score for each group will be compiled, together with an intragroup evaluation, for grade determination. Displays will be available for an entire school day for evaluation. The following criteria will be used for evaluation:

  1. Content Level: Evaluate the content level of the presentation as follows: 6 pts....expert (i.e. graduate level, and substantial evidence of professionalism, what you might expect if paid a consultant $4000 for the presentation) 4 pts....university level (i.e. more than just cursory treatment, but probably not at expert level) 2 pts....introductory (i.e., similar to treatment in pre-college {K-12})
  2. Scholarly effort: apparent use of library and other resources. 3 pts....original and professional compilation. Evidence of comprehensive understanding. What you might expect from a paid professional using local resources. 2 pts....expectation of use of scholarly sources and compilation expected from a college graduate, regardless of degree. 1 pt.....substantial reliance on one or too few sources. Resources not necessarily applicable, but bent to fit assignment. Little evidence of scholarly compilation.
  3. Organization: Easy-to-follow, logical arrangement of information. Rank as follows: 3 pts....well organized 2 pts....ok 1 pt.....poorly organized
  4. Completeness: Does the presentation answer the question? Rank as follows: 3 pts....apparently complete treatment. 2 pts....ok 1 pt.....trite
  5. Neatness: Duh. Rank as follows: 4 pts....nice 3 pts....presentable 2 pts....needs help
  6. Creativity: Rank as follows: 5 pts....Professional 4 pts....typical for a college graduate 3 pts....about as creative as filling-in-the-blank of a mimeographed handout
  7. Overall Impression: How does the presentation affect your understanding and appreciation of the topic? Rank as follows: 6 pts....deep and great 4 pts....moderate 2 pts....who cares

Total possible = 30

Score as follows: 26-30 = A, 21-25 = B, 16-20 = C, 11-15 = D, <11 = E.
