Earth's place and role in the solar system; what the planet is made of and how it is changing; surface processes that shape its exterior; influences on its habitable envelope. Four hours lecture and three hours laboratory. Materials fee required. Prerequisites: a college-level chemistry course and a college-level physics course, or consent of instructor.
