301. Introduction to Geographic Information
Systems and Mapping

An introduction to the fundamental principles and theories involved in working with geographic data within a geographic information system (GIS). Basic mapping concepts of scale, generalization, classification, map projections, coordinate systems, and spatial analysis are covered. Four hours lecture and three hours laboratory.
